Formats like the comedy quiz “Clueless” get young viewers interested in politics.
Democracy only works when everybody joins in. So the ProSieben- Sat.1 Group wants to get young people interested in politics, not always with earnest seriousness, but sometimes with humor. In the ProSieben comedy quiz "Clueless" hosts Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf strike up conversations with passersby and casually ask them questions. What is the name of the official residence of the president of Germany? Who is health minister right now? For each correct answer, respondents get 50 euros. That caught viewers' interest, and up to 24 percent of 14 to 29-year-olds watched. The concept was developed together with the Federal Center for Political Education. This cooperation also gave rise to "Sido goes voting". In it, just before the 2009 Federal election rapper Sido asked top politicians like Renate Künast questions. This has been one of the formats of the campaign "Go vote!" that motivated more new and young voters into going to the polls in 2009.
