NET 5 is the first port of call in women’s programming in The Netherlands. It is aimed at educated and sophisticated young women interested in lifestyle trends, interior design, fashion, fitness and culinary matters. The success enjoyed by NET 5 is based on must-see primetime programming. The channel offers romance (movies and TV-series), drama and emotion (such as the Dutch drama series “Evelien” and the Reality TV series Het Blok), adventure (“Peking Express”) and first-class films as well as award-winning U.S. series (“Desperate Housewives”, “Lost”, ”Grey’s Anatomy” and “Gilmore Girls”). Over the years, NET 5 has established a reputation as the first channel specifically catering to a female audience, also by scheduling immensely popular women’s series such as “Sex and the City” and “Ally McBeal”.

NET 5 can be received by 6.6 million households via cable and satellite in The Netherlands. The channel focuses on female viewers between 20-34 years of age, but also attracts a growing audience from other market segments such as viewers between 20-49 years of age. In 2006, the channel had a market share of 6,5 percent within its commercial target group in the Netherlands (Source: GfK Intomart). NET 5 was launched in March 1999.
